WHAT IS PROJECT 7?
 
PROJECT 7 WILL HELP YOU:
  • To learn how you learn best
  • To enjoy your learning
  • To succeed in your learning
  • To learn new skills
  • To work together as a team with different people

              

WHAT DO WE MEAN BY SKILLS?

We are going to be developing skills in the following five areas:

  • Learning – you will learn the skill of how you learn, think and reflect – how you learn
  • Citizenship – you will learn the skill of being a good citizen; how to be a part of a community
  • People – you will learn the skill of how to work with different people in teams taking different roles
  • Situations – you will learn the skill of how to celebrate success and how to come to terms with things when they go wrong
  • Information – you will learn how to evaluate information and use that information

HOW THE PROJECT WORKS

  • Year 7 spends two days a week working on the project – Monday and Friday
  • Each Project 7 day starts off in the hall
  • Most of the 2 days are taught by one tutor in a home base
  • There is be a big emphasis on using technology

PROJECT 7 IS DESIGNED TO DEVELOP YOUR:

  • Reasoning
  • Reflection

              

WHAT HAVE WE DONE THIS YEAR?

  • 25 students visited Rome for four days last November in order to explore the city and provide research for the book we were studying at the time.
  • World famous author Caroline Lawrence visited the school and spoke to Project 7 for a whole morning before signing copies of her books.
  • The whole year group visited the courts in Manchester so that they could see what happened during a court case.
  • Representatives from the local community visited the school for a “Question Time” style debate.
  • We are also planning to watch a football match at FC United as part of our Sports journalism unit.
  • Year 7 will also be starting the First World War in the main hall as part of the “War and Peace” unit!!!
